About

Prior to the recent political strife and violence taking place in Kenya, youth workers from the Armitage Baptist Church have been planning and preparing to send out a team to Nairobi, Kenya from March 14, 2008 until March 22, 2008 to lead a youth worker’s conference at the request of Kenyan youth leaders.

“One of the biggest needs in the African church is leadership training. We are going at the request of a church in Nairobi and bringing them a service they can immediately employ as they seek to be a healing agent at this critical time,” said Steve Laughlin, youth pastor at Armitage Baptist Church.

A dynamic team of 11 people from Chicago will lead and facilitate this first annual youth workers conference attracting hundreds of Kenyans. Our mission is to inspire and motivate Kenya youth workers as they serve their churches and communities. Also while in Kenya our team will participate in basketball camps, outreaches, medical clinics, and multimedia productions.

Our team will stay with host families who are generously welcoming us and opening up their homes to us.

Going to Kenya is a first time experience for all us! We are excited for what this adventure will bring and we’ll be sure to blog all about it!
